What Happens & Who Attends

Most of our events take the form of a dinner dance evening, unless a social event like our boat parties and Christmas Party.

On arrival, you are greeted by one of our hosts, who will give you a brief structure of the evening and direct you towards the seating plan which is arranged according to religious background and age; this assists you in meeting suitable people literally from the word go!

The seating plan is never rigid, and soon after starters (or dinner, depending on the type of function) we encourage movement and mingling with others. The hosts are available should you need assistance in meeting people, and carry the basic information about the individuals attending (i.e. Name, age, religion, caste if submitted, and occupation).

Individuals attending do come from a variety of backgrounds and occupations. The majority of people however, around 85-90%, are from an educated/graduate background, and a high percentage of those individuals are in professional occupations such as Accountants, Barristers, Computer Programmers, Dentists, Engineers, Financial Analysts, General Practitioners, etc. The list is endless, and most of these people attend due to the restrictions in meeting others because of their hectic working lives, and the lack of being able to socialise with others from their own communities. The majority of people attending tend to be in their mid-twenties to mid-thirties, although we have had individuals as young as 18/19 and as old as 57 years old attending. At worst our split of female to male is 60/40 (60% female:40% male), and at best we have had 50/50, although our September 2000 function was actually 49/51 (the first time we have ever had more males), and on one other occasion we had 48/52..

The religious split at each event also varies, but figures based on previous functions, vary as follows:

Hindu - 38% to 50% (comprising Punjabi, Gujrati and all other Hindus), Muslim - 20% to 30%, Sikh - 33% to 48%
Christian and all others - 0% to 5%.

Since February 1999, all of our functions have sold out. We hold recognition as having organised what we believe is the largest event of it's kind in February 2000 in London, with an attendance of 384 people, some of whom travelled from as far as Scotland and Holland to attend. Our boat party in July 2000 was also sold out with 375 people. Unfortunately, nearly 100 people had to be turned away.

Whilst we accept that our functions may not be everyone's 'cup of tea', we do find that most people find them useful and do come back again as well as bringing along many of their single and unattached friends, until such time that they no longer need our services. Many individuals attend our functions through recommendation and word of mouth. With a continually growing database of over 2000 people, your chances of meeting the right person at one of our functions are quite high.

With the expertise from our sister company, 'Suman Marriage Bureau', we believe we offer the best service to those looking to meet people in this way.

We allow ample time for you to meet and talk to others attending, and try not to cram the evening with a host of other distractions. With light music playing in the background and dancing in the latter part of the evening, you are almost certainly assured an enjoyable evening out. Most of our venues have areas where you can chat on a one-to-one basis, away from all the crowds, and we do not force any aspect of the evening upon you. As mentioned earlier, even our seating plans are only in place for the first part of the evening, so that you can move around quite soon. Name badges, when supplied, are optional to wear. Basically, you meet the people you want, in your own time and comfort at one of our functions.
